Course Info
Registration and Start Times
The Race leaves from the Buffalo Lodge at 8am. Sign-in starts at 7am at the Lodge, and Race Day Registration will run from 7 - 7:45am. Pre-Registration can be done here at any time.
Event Timeline
A very fast cyclist will complete the full Rager in 4 - 5hrs, a strong cyclist in about 5 - 6hrs, a moderate cyclist 7 - 8hrs. The first 2+hrs is almost all uphill so pace yourself and be prepared for a long enjoyable day on the saddle!
A “Cut-Off” time will be established for reaching each checkpoint (TBD). Cut-off times are based on an average moving time of 10 mph. This includes your stopped time, so the longer you stop the faster you will be required to ride. These times may be adjusted, as deemed necessary by event staff, to account for unforeseen circumstances such as inclement weather, poor course conditions, etc. Cut-off times are established for the purpose of rider safety, and will therefore be strictly enforced.
There will be an After Party at the Buffalo Lodge (Time TDB), so finish as fast as (safely) possible to attend!
General Course Info
This is a sensational course. Phenomenal views, and an overall super challenging but brutally fun course - roads are approx. 80% Gravel and Dirt, 20% paved or bike paths.
Starting at Buffalo Lodge Bicycle Resort, the course goes directly into the Garden of the Gods. The short course takes one loop around the Garden, then up Rampart Range Road to top of Rampart Range lookout, and turns around to ride back down to the Lodge. The Long Course keeps going past the turnaround, and has 13 miles of forest road, jeep trail and single track. The Long Course is beautiful but challenging, you must have decent gravel bike handling skills to make it through.
Course Lengths
The Short Course is a 50K ride, the Long Course is 100K and there is also a 75K Medium Course for more confident riders that don't want to ride the full 100k. Course route maps and stats can be found at the links below:
Aid Stations
There are 2 Aid Stations at checkpoints along the course. Food and drinks will be available, but there is a lot of distance between stations, so please bring more supplies with you than you think you'll need.
-
Aid Station #1 is at top of Rampart Range Road, a 1/4 mile past the Rampart overlook. This will be your 50k turn around. Food and drinks will be there, self serve.
-
Aid Station #2 is at mile 27 on the way out, and mile 40 on return if you're doing the 100k. There will be food and drinks there, as well as First Aid if needed.
Safety Notes
Certain roads will be open to traffic, and others are treacherous in certain weather conditions, so please be careful! Also, Spectators and Support Crew are allowed to watch or assist from checkpoints, but are NOT allowed to be on the course for their own safety and that of the Racers - with exceptions made for picking up injured Racers or those dropping out of the race.
Awards
There will be a $2500 Prize Purse for the overall winner, as well as Age Group Awards and rankings based on course length. And while the awards are worth working for, we hope all Racers remember to ride safely, respect all traffic signs and other participants, and most importantly, enjoy the ride!
